Plea for stricter market surveillance
The EU textile machinery industry appeals to EU authorities and member states to take market surveillance for textile machinery seriously, all over Europe. Textile machinery should be higher on the priority list for dedicated market surveillance actions given the prolonged safety risks for factory workers, the environmental impact and threat to free competition on the EU market. Cematex summarized its expectations towards the European Commission and Member States in a new position paper.

India plans for compulsory certification for weaving looms & ancillary equipment as well as for embroidery machinery. It issued regulation with current date of enforcement Sept 1 2026. The regulation not only applies to complete machinery, though also all its components & subassemblies. Cematex filed a complaint for a Technical Barrier to Trade under the multilateral WTO agreement and issued a position statement towards the Indian authorities and the European Commission.
